Doing a full day wedding photography coverage is super exciting. Many photographers enjoy it so much that they even forget to eat. Every minute can bring you an opportunity to get that one shot that your clients will be sharing with family and friends for years to come – usually something hilarious and totally unexpected.
From getting ready until the last dance, I capture the entire day, including the happy moments, the emotional moments, and the stressful moments.
I shoot many weddings, and I enjoy them all. Every wedding has a story, and I’m always curious, “How did this couple meet? How did he propose? What do they love about each other?”
Karina told me their love story.
Tom and Karina met at a bar where Tom worked behind the bar. On that night Karina celebrated her friend’s birthday, and Tom just moved back to the Gold Coast from Melbourne, a couple of days before.
“The night after that, I went out again only to see him!”, Karina admitted.
When he finished work, they played a game of pool, had some drinks, and then stayed up for hours just talking and getting to know each other.
Neither of them wanted a serious relationship, and they became good friends.
But things changed when a few weeks later Karina invited Tom to his grandmother’s birthday. Her family welcomed him with open arms, and they had the greatest time. “I knew then that it was more than friends”, said Karina.
In May 2018, Tom’s life-long dream came true and he joined the Australian Army. He was sent to Wagga Wagga for his 3-month basic training – but they couldn’t be apart for so long, so Karina flew down once a month to see him for one day, and then flew back home.
When she went for his graduation, Tom had a surprise for her. He proposed to her in front of everyone at the Graduation – about 500 people – including Tom’s mum, dad, and his dad’s friend. For the rest of the day, she was in such shock she couldn’t eat! She will remember that day – the 3rd of August 2018 – forever.
They celebrated their love on the most perfect day, with the most amazing people to celebrate it with.
I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding! I packed my camera, dressed the part, and started the day from making new friends and checking out the surroundings. And thanks to a quick dash down the coast from my business partner, we made it a day to remember.
Then the fun started! Boys getting ready, bridesmaids helping the bride get ready, the ceremony, the reception, the first dance. Each part had a different energy and was filled with different emotions.
Do you remember Karina’s friend – the birthday girl, who went out with her on that night when Karina met Tom? She was one of her bridesmaids!
Karina and Tom danced for hours, she looked radiant in her gorgeous wedding dress while feeling like an absolute princess and on top of the world! The guests were having the time of their lives, too, dancing and enjoying themselves.
Tom and Karina’s wedding day was all about love, happiness, and laughter.
Everything was picture-perfect.
The bride looked smashing in Esha Dress from Luv Bridal, designed by Madi Lane.
Tunya Vasquez from Blondes On Cavill and Jana from Everbliss Beauty made a great job adding more glamour and magic, and made sure that everything stayed in place all the time 😊
Working alongside Scott Dunbar, the videographer who did some awesome videography work, was quite easy – and it’s not always as easy as it sounds!
Thanks to the amazing Summer Grove Estate – one of the best wedding venues out there – we had the perfect backdrop for the photographs. With distant hill views and gorgeous landscape, the place created boundless opportunities for us to capture every detail of that amazing day.
Thank you, Karina and Tom, for sharing your happy story with me.
